The spartan warfare

The Spartan city state produced one of the most iconic
military army in ancient history. The Spartan warriors were known for their
Courage, Skill, and Disciplined.
The Spartan, like other ancient Greek, relied on hoplites armed infantry man, named after the shield they carried, the hoplite (1meter wide& 7kgs in weight).
Most hoplites Dropped their shield if they fled the battlefield despite the fact that if was seen as a loss of honour, Mothers told their sons that they were to velum with their shields or on it.

The success of the Spartan army relied on the discipline of the troops in massed hoplite formation this was called a phalanx.
The phalanx worked in a push and shove manner which aimed to break the formation of the opposing army.
The Spartans were extremely successful in warfare with tactics. It did not fail -+them for almost 300 years (battle of Leuctra in 371BCE).
Advantage
- Well supported Force/Unit
- Well drilled and supported each other became of the agoge.
- Hard to break through.
Disadvantage
- You can go around the phalanx.
- Ineffective on uneven ground.
